When did you know you wanted to do hair?
When I was 8, I received a Barbie doll for Christmas that had short hair. I remember saying to my mom "How am I supposed to play with her if she doesn't have any hair"?!
How would you describe your approach to doing hair?
Hair is my medium to interact with many different people. If I take the time to be a good listener, stay on the top of my game with education, and have an open mind, I have more of an opportunity to work with a colorful variety of people and their hair.
What inspires your creativity?
Everything!! I get inspired from the textures and colors of nature, marveling at intricate architectural design and music.
What advice would you give someone considering color for the first time?
Determine your goals and your limitations, then take baby steps. TRUST YOUR STYLIST! If you don't then just get up and find one that you do!!
How do you customize a hair color for each and every guest?
Discuss with them the look they desire, the condition of their hair, their skin tone, and the time and maintenance required to maintain the look. Once those areas are agreeed upon, we can color some hair!
What celebrity always has great hair?
Halle Berry and Taylor Swift.
How do you approach cutting hair?
For me it's like sculpting. I achieve the vision in my mind, then create that look with the tools, knowledge and experience that I have.
Describe your personal style:
Functional flair! I like things that are useful and logical. But I am also distracted by shiny objects or things unusual.
